FDA MedWatch - The Compounding Shop - UPDATE: Do Not Use Budesonide Solution

Posted: 27 Sep 2013 08:50 AM PDT

MedWatch logoMedWatch - The FDA Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program

UPDATED 09/27/2013. FDA alerted patients and health care providers that budesonide solution, used for nasal irrigation, from The Compounding Shop may be contaminated and should not be used or administered to patients. FDA observed a 1000 mL bottle of budesonide solution from The Compounding Shop that contained visible, white, floating material. FDA identified that material as a fungus and is concerned that contamination may be present in other budesonide solution products from The Compounding Shop that may currently be on the market.

FDA is alerting health care providers to immediately quarantine any budesonide solution products from The Compounding Shop, and not administer it to patients.

FDA MedWatch - Tygacil (tigecycline): Drug Safety Communication - Increased Risk of Death

Posted: 27 Sep 2013 08:43 AM PDT

MedWatch logoMedWatch - The FDA Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program

Tygacil (tigecycline): Drug Safety Communication - Increased Risk of Death

AUDIENCE: Infectious Disease, Critical Care, Pharmacy

ISSUE: FDA notified health professionals and their medical care organizations of a new Boxed Warning describing an increased risk  of death when intravenous Tygacil is used for FDA-approved uses as well as for non-approved uses. These changes to the Tygacil Prescribing Information are based on an additional analysis that was conducted for FDA-approved uses after FDA issuing a Drug Safety Communication about this safety concern in September 2010.

This analysis showed a higher risk of death among patients receiving Tygacil compared to other antibacterial drugs: 2.5% (66/2640) vs. 1.8% (48/2628), respectively. The adjusted risk difference for death was 0.6% with corresponding 95% confidence interval (0.0%, 1.2%). In general, the deaths resulted from worsening infections, complications of infection, or other underlying medical conditions.

BACKGROUND: Tygacil is FDA-approved to treat complicated skin and skin structure infections (cSSSI), complicated intra-abdominal infections (cIAI), and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP).

RECOMMENDATION: Health care professionals should reserve Tygacil for use in situations when alternative treatments are not suitable.

Neil Cavuto Crushes Obama Over Latest Attack Against FOX News

Posted: 26 Sep 2013 07:15 PM PDT

Obama is back to attacking one of his favorite targets, FOX News, the only major network who doesn't parrot the Obama regime's talking points. As a result, Neil Cavuto responded today by slamming the president in a powerful opening statement that gave the president a lesson in the First Amendment and freedom of the press:

More Black on White Violence: Black teen mob attacks Vet at gas station

Posted: 26 Sep 2013 03:39 PM PDT

Here's yet another case of blacks attacking whites for no apparent reason other than that they're white. In this case its at a gas station in Detroit:

Related: Hate crimes against "whitey" seem to be occurring on a daily basis.(Now the most divisive president and attorney general in history are getting what they want. They've already accomplished redistributing the wealth, now it's time to redistribute the violence.)

This will be the 8th time the debt ceiling has been raised under Obama - Costing $43,000 per household (with Video)

Posted: 26 Sep 2013 02:21 PM PDT

First of all, consider this as an absolute must-watch video. It's a 4.5 minute lesson in how absurd and costly to the American economy (and its fiscal future) it is for the Obama and his fellow Democrats to be talking about raising the debt ceiling (for the 8th time since Obama came into office) - without implementation of spending cuts and entitlement reforms before, or as part of, an increase in the debt ceiling.

From The Foundry:

Did you know that since President Obama came into office, the debt limit has been raised seven times?

With those increases, Congress has added $43,000 in debt for every American household in just the last four years.

And now the debt limit deadline is looming again. Treasury will run out of tricks to keep paying the bills on October 17, Secretary Jack Lew announced yesterday.

Instead of pursuing significant spending cuts and entitlement reforms that are desperately needed to get spending under control, House Republicans reportedly are proposing to suspend the debt ceiling for more than a year, which would add $1.1 trillion to the debt.

So, take that $43,000 per household that was added in the last four years and tack on another $8,800 per household.

What happened the last time Congress raised the debt ceiling? Did they accomplish any meaningful spending cuts before increasing the debt limit? In a word, no:

Congress and the President last suspended the debt ceiling from February 4, 2013, through May 18, 2013, adding $300 billion to the national debt in less than four months. Their only request was that the Senate produce a budget for the first time in four years, which it did. No savings were accomplished.
No savings (none whatsoever - just more debt).
More here.

Report: Illegal Aliens Awaiting Deportation Got Preferred Jobs in U.S. Prisons

Posted: 26 Sep 2013 01:08 PM PDT

Britannica_prison.jpg

Only in Obama's America will one find that 'illegal aliens' get preferred jobs over American citizens in prison.

Via CNSNews.com:

Federal Prison Industries (FPI), the government-owned corporation that operates factories in federal prisons, employed 37 inmates as of June 2012 who had been issued final deportation orders and were therefore ineligible for FPI employment.

Although those 37 illegal alien inmates represented less than one percent of Federal Prison Industries’ total inmate employees, the audit shows a "weakness in FPI's internal controls," says a recent report from the Justice Department's Office of Inspector General (OIG).

"We found that FPI's internal controls did not ensure that aliens who were ordered deported were removed from FPI employment as required," the report said.

More here.

Interestingly, not only has the Obama administration released thousands of criminal illegals, the Obama administration has an agenda of amnesty for illegals. And "a weakness in internal controls" appears to be commonplace in the Obama administration.

Related - Reminder: How Mexico Treats 'Undesirable' (illegal) Foreigners

In a nutshell ...

Posted: 26 Sep 2013 11:34 AM PDT

The situation couldn't be summed up any better:

"The status quo falls apart when people discover, first to their surprise, then to their glee, that it's lost its teeth. The presidency of Barack Obama appears to be unraveling. Whether the yarn will be pulled out to the last inch remains to be seen, but a lot of it is already coiled on the floor. First the UK Parliament and then both parties of Congress balked at his Syrian policy. Then Putin humiliated him so badly internationally that he retreated to the safety of domestic policy."
And, as Richard Fernandez points out, the situation is indeed much worse as a new toe has entered the waters of defiance.

Black Greenville Wal-Mart Shooter Picked Victims Because They Were White

Posted: 26 Sep 2013 09:45 AM PDT

He could be one of Obama's sons ... right?

450x338xLakim-Faust.jpg.pagespeed.ic.YK_NRAgZSj.jpg

Death for 'shopping while white'!

The race-hustlers on the left gin-up racial hatred because they believe they can play blacks like a fiddle and it helps them with turnout on voting day. In reality, it does much more ... it cultivates and encourages black on white crime (which is on the rise, although hate crime charges are not) by blacks like Lakim Faust.

CBS Charlotte reports (hat tip - John Hawkins):

A man who shot four people near a Greenville Wal-Mart in June picked out his victims because they were white, according to several indictments handed down against him.

Lakim Faust had more than 100 rounds of ammunition when he started shooting at people at a law firm and a shopping center in June, authorities said.

A grand jury indicted Faust on 14 charges Monday, including four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Faust, who is black, picked out his victims based on their race, according to the indictments. The documents didn't specify why Faust wanted to shoot white people, and police have not talked about why he picked out his targets.

Meanwhile, as black on white violence increases in both rate and ferocity, not a peep is heard from the likes of Barack Obama, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the folks at MSNBC.

New GOP Leadership Has Arrived

Posted: 26 Sep 2013 09:30 AM PDT

Via Michael Walsh at NRO: 'What we've just seen is ... there's new leadership in the GOP, whether the party wants to admit it or not: Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Jeff Sessions, and the others who stepped into the breach to spell the senator from Texas':

... a few observations:

  • After his disgraceful attacks on Cruz, including his reach-across-the-aisle, dog-in-the-manger response today, this should be the end of Senator John McCain as a voice of influence in the Republican party. Ditto his mini-me, Senator Lindsey Graham. Indeed, the entire Old Guard of business-as-usual "comity" fans passeth. When you care more about what the other side thinks, it's probably time either to switch teams or step down.
  • There is new leadership in the GOP, whether the party wants to admit it or not: Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee, Jeff Sessions, and the others who stepped into the breach to spell the senator from Texas.
  • The popular reaction to Cruz will be immediate and noticeable; the more the old bulls carp, the more the public will rally to Cruz's side. The country has been spoiling for a real fight since the election of 2008, and now it has one.
  • Conservatives have finally realized that, as it's currently constituted, they have no home in the Republican party, which is the Washington Generals to the Democrats' Harlem Globetrotters, the designated losers who nevertheless are rewarded handsomely for their sham opposition. ...
Much more here.

As you continue reading you'll likely see that Walsh's final point is probably his most important. Any party that can'tt successfully sell freedom and personal liberty doesn't deserve power. The trick will be to explain -- by word and deed -- that the Democrats' Manichaean choice (Big Brother or the orphanage) is a false one, that less can be more, and that the restoration of a Republic of self-reliant citizens will benefit all Americans -- not simply the government class and its clients. Clearly, under its current leadership, the GOP has proven itself to be disinterested and inept at accomplishing this ... the time for new leadership has arrived ... and they are already here.

IRS Unable To Account For $67 Million Missing From Obamacare Slush Fund, Has No Clue What It Was Spent On

Posted: 26 Sep 2013 08:59 AM PDT

irs-630.jpg No surprise here, they make your life miserable, fine you, put you in jail, etc... if you don't keep up with where you spent every dime of your money, but $67 million is lost/spent/mismanaged/missing/etc. out of Obama's "secret" slush fund for implementing Obamacare ... and all the IRS has to say about it is ... 'crickets chirping' ... they haven't the foggiest idea as to where it went.

Americans for Tax Reform reports:

[...] The IRS is unable to account for $67 million spent from a slush fund established for Obamacare implementation, according to a Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) report released today.

The "Health Insurance Reform Implementation Fund" (HIRIF) was tucked into Obamacare in order to give the IRS money to enforce the tax provisions of the healthcare law. The fund, totaling some $1 billion of taxpayer money, was used to roll out enforcement mechanisms for the approximately 50 tax provisions of Obamacare.

According to the report: "Specifically, the IRS did not account for or attempt to quantify approximately $67 million [from the slush fund] of indirect ACA costs incurred for Fiscal Years 2010 through 2012."

The report also found several other abuses of taxpayer funds, including:

Travel abuse: The report states,"Specifically, we identified 38 IRS employees in two judgmentally selected business units whose travel was charged to the HIRIF in FY 2012, but no portion of their salary and related benefits was charged to the HIRIF." In short, the IRS was not making sure that employee travel reimbursements had anything to do with the purpose of the fund. This is not the first time that IRS employee travel has created a scandal for the agency.

1,272 IRS Obamacare enforcement agents: The report estimates that total slush fund spending cost taxpayers the equivalent of 1,272 new full time IRS agents.

The IRS requested an additional 859 IRS Obamacare enforcement agents for Fiscal Year 2013: According to the report, "The IRS informed us that it requested $360 million and 859 FTEs for FY 2013 to continue implementation of the ACA. However, the IRS did not receive this requested amount for FY 2013."

To add insult to injury, the IRS has told the Inspector General that it will comply with the recommendations made in the report; unfortunately, the slush fund has been fully spent, making that promise meaningless.

And these are the people that the Democrats in Congress assigned to manage the enforcement of Obamacare?

God help us!

You are subscribed to CDC's Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) email subscription service. A "Provider Information" document to supplement the 2013-14 influenza VISs has been posted and is now available.  This document summarizes information from the current ACIP influenza recommendations, and is intended as a quick reference for providers to use when discussing influenza vaccine with their patients, or answering patients' questions. It provides detailed information on topics dealt with more superficially on the influenza VISs themselves.
