Lugu Lake, Yunnan

Lugu Lake is spotted about 300km far from Lijiang. The center of the lake structures the outskirt in the middle of Yunan and Sichuan Provinces. It is a level lake with an aggregate territory of 52 square kilometers, 2,685 meters over the ocean level. Grasped by mountains, this lake is known as the "mother lake" by Mosuo People that lives along the lake shore. Really, The lake's shores are possessed by numerous minority ethnic gatherings, for example, the Mosuo, Norzu, Yi, Pumi and Tibetan. Mosuo People, who said to be a sub family of the Naxi People, still well kept the aged social family structure which called as the "matriarchal society".

There are five islands arranged in the lake, the most adored one is the Holy Gemu Mountain (the Lion Mountain). The nearby individuals revere it as their Goddess Gemu.
Numerous social destinations and picturesque spots are scattered along the lakeside. They are Mosuo towns, level hot springs, the underground maze- Lucky Cave, the Chieftain's Palace, Zhamei Lama Temple, Riyuehe - The Ruins of the Yuan Army Quarters when Kublai Khan was on his south development and Yongning - the key town on the Ancient Tea-horse Road.
