As Yale-China Teaching Fellows, recent Yale alumni have the chance to immerse themselves in China for two years while continuing to develop skills that will be valuable in any profession, including teaching, communication, Mandarin, and cross-cultural competency. Applicants must have native-level English ability. Neither Chinese language ability nor teaching experience is a prerequisite. THE FELLOWSHIP Fellows are placed at one of Yale-China's partner institutions, where they conduct English classes according to the needs of the school. Fellows have the opportunity to engage with Chinese society at a depth that is still inaccessible to most outsiders, discovering China through their role as teachers, and in the process forging lifelong bonds and mutual cross-cultural understanding with their students, colleagues, and host community. POST-FELLOWSHIP After fulfilling their terms as teachers in China, Fellows go on to a wide variety of professions, including law, medicine, business, education, and NGO work.
